About this material
Carbon nanotubes work differently from carbon black. Their high aspect ratio means a small number of tubes, well dispersed, can span much longer distances through the electrode and form a network that survives the volume changes of cycling. In silicon-containing anodes this is not a refinement but a requirement: the active particles expand by up to 300% and a point-contact carbon black network simply breaks apart.
The difficulty has never been the tubes, it is the dispersion. Van der Waals attraction holds bundles together, and an undispersed bundle behaves like a large inert particle — worse than no additive at all, because it creates a defect in the coating. This product is supplied pre-dispersed in NMP or water, which removes that variable from the process and makes the additive practical at laboratory scale.
Documentation, controls and care
Quality controls
- Solids content verified per lot
- Viscosity measured at 25 °C
- Dispersion checked for agglomerates
- Shelf life dated on pack
Handling & storage
- Stir gently before dispensing — do not high-shear, it can re-break the dispersion.
- Keep sealed; solvent evaporates and solids rise over time.
- Handle as a nanomaterial: avoid generating aerosols and use appropriate respiratory protection.

Specification values are typical windows compiled from public technical references and supplier
datasheets, and are provided for selection guidance only. The specification delivered against your
order is agreed in writing, and measured values are confirmed on the batch certificate of analysis.
