About this material
A pouch cell has no rigid can — the laminate film is the only barrier between the electrode stack and the atmosphere. It is a three-layer composite: oriented nylon on the outside for puncture and abrasion resistance, a 40 μm aluminium foil in the middle doing the actual moisture and oxygen blocking, and cast polypropylene on the inside to bond to the tabs and to the film itself during heat sealing.
Because the film is thin and the seal is the only closure, handling dominates yield. A pinhole, a crease along a fold line, or a seal made at the wrong temperature all show up later as electrolyte leakage or moisture ingress. Every roll ships with a parameter sheet giving the seal temperature, pressure and dwell window for the CPP grade supplied.
Documentation, controls and care
Quality controls
- WVTR tested per lot
- Seal strength verified by destructive test
- Pinhole inspection across the web
- Thickness and layer bonding checked
Handling & storage
- Store flat below 20 °C — creases become leak paths and cannot be reversed.
- Keep sealed with desiccant until immediate use.
- Run a trial seal on scrap film before sealing a real cell; a good seal tears the film rather than peeling.
Grades on this page are references used to describe capability; they are not a fixed product list.
Specification values are typical windows compiled from public technical references and supplier
datasheets, and are provided for selection guidance only. The specification delivered against your
order is agreed in writing, and measured values are confirmed on the batch certificate of analysis.
